Pipe thread sealant tape is engineered to create a watertight seal on PVC, ABS and brass tapered pipe threads. Its 1/2-in. width works well for 1/2-in. through 1-in. size fittings. Application is as simple as wrapping the tape in same direction as the threads. Typically, 1-2 layers will create a seal, although in cases of dissimilar materials, like brass and plastic, an additional layer may be necessary. Note that this tape is specifically for tapered threads. For Orbit manifolds, Yard Enforcer, and hose faucet and hose-end connections, thread seal tape is unnecessary, as the O-ring or washer create the seal. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water on tapered threads only.
