This timer is engineered for installation in an indoor location, meaning a covered place that is not exposed to water. You can use it in an outdoor location if you place it inside an Orbit outdoor cabinet. It can power one valve solenoid at the same time.
The A and B program slots allow you to set up to two unique watering schedules tailored to different types of zones in the yard. Each program has space for four different start times which allows you to create cycle and soak windows that encourage water infiltration into the soil. The Easy Dial sprinkler timer will automatically “stack” overlapping runtimes from different programs so that only one solenoid is running at any given time. The manual run feature allows you to run one zone, select zones, or all zones for a specified length of time, which is very convenient for zone testing or supplemental watering. It has a rain delay feature at the timer which allows you to skip watering zones for a configurable time when Mother Nature is taking care of the watering, and a relay switch for adding an automatic rain and freeze sensor (sold separately).
Installation is as simple as mounting the timer on the wall, putting the common wire (typically white wire) in the C terminal and the individual zone wires in each of the numbered station terminals, plugging in the transformer, and setting the schedules. Screw terminals hold the sprinkler wire securely in place. The recommended standard sprinkler wire for this timer is 18 gauge thickness with 5 or 7 strands/wires.

I have had two of these in the past 4 weeks both units are bad right out of the box

I have had two of these in the past 4 weeks both units are bad right out of the box.i have replaced wire and solenoids I don't know what to do at this point

Poor quality power source that did not last 2 years

Poor quality power source that did not last 2 years. This was a replacement unit after a tremendous hassle to get a replacement part while still under the 6 year warranty (now 2 year). Shipping was quick but CS in general stinks using AI and chat with unknowledgeable agents that are not customer friendly.
