Product Description:

Automatic inline valves are the most common valve in today’s irrigation systems. The L-Series incorporates the very latest technology in inline valve design. It features a 24 VAC solenoid, manual actuation with a quarter twist of the solenoid, and is available in flow control versions. The L-Series valve is the current standard valve in the heavy-duty preassembled valve manifold. An internal scrubber filter helps keep the valve clog-free. Four captured screws in the lid allow for easy servicing. The threads are 3/4-in. or 1-in. female pipe thread (FPT) and are compatible with Schedule 40 and 80 PVC fittings as well as the heavy-duty preassembled valve manifold and fittings. The L-Series solenoid features nickel-plated copper wire and is compatible with all major brands of 24 VAC irrigation controllers.  We recommend B-hyve controllers for optimum water conservation and PVC-Lock fittings for fast, glue-free installation. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only.

Not my first use of these

Not my first use of these...I like orbits products. A little hot here in Arizona so I had to replace it, but I insulated the new ones.

Not good

It took one replacement solenoid and two valves to find one good solenoid.
When I received a replacement solenoid and it was buzzing worse than the original failed unit (2 years old) I was hesitant to think it could be a bad solenoid out of the box. So I rechecked my diagnosis and ordered a valve assembly that was a direct replacement and when it was buzzing out of the box I knew I must have made a mistake somehow.
Thoroughly rechecking and triple checking it all pointed to another bad solenoid. The odds of that are astronomical I said to myself but I was at a loss so i argued to finally get another valve assembly.
I was shocked to find that the second valve assembly didn’t buzz and worked fine.
I have no idea what’s going on over there but something isn’t right.
I hope you guys figure it out soon though as I have more of this same valve in my system.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with solenoid buzzing. This is normal and expected behavior as the buzzing sound comes from the magnets inside the solenoid being electrically activated and vibrating. Some can be louder than others, though the solenoid and the valve should be fine as long as the valve is functioning properly. It is a pretty good model valve

It is a pretty good model valve.
It has a 6 year warranty, which I believe is pretty good. Unfortunately the particular valve that I had to replace only made it 5 & 1/2 yrs.
Oh well, gas is $5.00 a gallon! Ugh!

my new valve wont turn off? (57281)

Orbit

It could be installed backwards, have some debris in the valve, or it could not be getting the voltage to turn it on and off properly. Our Customer Care team is happy to help. We can be reached by phone at (800)488-6156 or online at support.orbitonline.com.
