Automatic jar top valves are the easiest-to-service valves for today’s irrigation systems. The jar top valve features a 24 VAC solenoid, manual actuation lever, and bleed screw. The jar top lid removes with a counterclockwise twist, allowing access to the diaphragm and support ring. The threads are 3/4-in. or 1-in. pipe thread and are compatible with Schedule 40 and 80 PVC fittings as well as heavy-duty manifold adapters. The jar top solenoid features nickel-plated copper wire and is compatible with all major brands of 24 VAC irrigation controllers. We recommend B-hyve controllers for optimum water conservation and PVC-Lock® fittings for fast, glue-free installation. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only

Best product on the market!

I have 12 jar top valves in my lawn manifold, and 4 in my garden manifold. All, of which I control from an Orbit 16 station controller and operate them from my cell phone. I do occasionally have to clean or replace a diaphragm, but they are readily available at Home Depot and Lowe’s, who keep them in stock and at a reasonable price. I am very pleased with jar type valves as a very easy to maintain with an oil filter wrench, which fits them perfectly for maintenance. I do wish the diaphragm would provide a better seal as I have to tighten outer ring very tightly to prevent them leaking slightly at times. I have them mounted inside my garden shed on the wall, which makes it very easy to maintain them.

Original purchase of 6 bleed screws

Original purchase was for 6 bleed screws. I was informed that the bleed screws were not available. I was informed that the screws are not available with a sku number. I had to purchase the Jar Top Automatic Sprinkler Valve.

Design Or production issues

I like the ease of removing the top but it seems to me that an obvious design flaw exists as I have had two valves now fail in the exact same way. With the valves leaking past the obvious solution was the diaphragm. Wrong! New diaphragms and no change. Changing the O-ring. Nope. Maybe the spring is too weak? Wrong again. The amount of time spent troubleshooting should be billed to you to find a small crack in the valve body in the exact same place on both valves. Having 10 of them it just makes me wonder if I should start replacing them with another brand knowing what is coming. Oh, and I had them about 2 years.

Very helpful customer service. I had misplaced the springs over winter after winterizing the system. You can buy everything except the springs to repair the unit (selinoid and diaphragms). Customer service was able to come up with a solution quickly.
