Once you get it set up with firmware updates and on line, it is a far cry from any other standard hose timer. But the reason for only 3 stars is I purchased 3 units hoping to have 3 lawn zones working in harmony. Unfortunately with the hub, the app doesn’t know the 3 units are there and you have to switch manually between units and program individually. That’s my biggest disappointment. I did find a workaround by adding water restrictions to each one with only an hour each day allowed to water. Making that 1 hour window consecutively different for each one allows it to schedule without me worrying about overlapping. Seems like their software could be updated and not sure why they’re not dojng it. Would make it a 5 star purchase.

The app is great and setup was pretty simple, although on my android phone, I had to reboot the phone several times during setup (the app has you reboot to fix some error). Otherwise the setup and day to day use is good. One big sticking point for me is that the Amazon Echo support seems to be busted if you have more than one valve (which I do). You can only control one zone. Alexa doesn’t seem to be able to see the other zone. Hoping that will be fixed shortly.

I’m old and in a wheelchair, so simple things like turning faucets on & off take extra effort for me. Being in the desert means I need to water my garden every day. I first bought the wifi setup to try out. By the time I got it, they were sold out of the individual timers, so after seeing how great this was for me, I had to wait until today to order a few more timers. These really are great and make life easier! I’ve tried leaving water in the hoses and using on/off valves at the end of the hoses, but with our 115 heat, the hoses explode and run non-stop water everywhere when the pressure from the heat expansion builds up in them. With these, this won’t happen anymore.
When you first connect, they download the latest firmware version. Easy peasy. Setup was a breeze, too. Make sure you use new batteries and don’t leave it in setup mode after it is finished, as it drains the batteries. I like the wifi option, as I can be in another state and still turn the water on and off. I’m super glad I bought these.

Would be 5 stars if the app was better. I have two units, both with wi-fi hubs, and having to select one at a time by going to devices, then selecting it should be able to be accomplished from the device screen. It is working as expected with appropriate rain delays. It would make a difference if there were a better setup guide. It took a few tries to set the soil moisture level to the level necessary to get the “Smart” watering to run for the correct amount of time. Is the flow test measuring just the initial flow or does it matter what actually goes out once the drip lines are full and resisting flow?

The good: The devices once setup (I have three now and trying to buy two more) work extremely well. Connection to my smart phone (Android) works flawlessly. One of the design features that I found sort of incredible was the range. I have these faucet connectors quite a ways away from the house. Actually they are attached to the bottom of the tripod sprinkler. Connectivity has never been an issue and the range is outstanding.
For the bad: Setup was challenging and I am a Network Engineer with over 35 years of owning my own IT company. The issue was what others have said; there is a firmware update that tends to cause a bit of an issue. The devices connected, was notified of a firmware update which I tried to install on all three devices. Two of them got stuck and had to reboot. The third one worked. Once the firmware got stuck it ended up in a loop with the hub. I was able to finally resolve this. At the time it was very frustrating but that frustration has gone down considerably because of how well they work once setup. I think with a few tweaks on the software (new versions) these are going to be great and there will be a lot of 5 stars to come. Overall, recommend.

Firstly, set up B-Hyve and add any timers on an iOS device. I tried repeatedly with my Galaxy S10 and it would fail almost every time or there would be an error. iOS set up was flawless and worked the first time.
Once they were connected and set up, they work great. Easy to turn on and off manually, and smart watering has worked well for us. There were a couple days where there was a small percentage chance of rain, and watering was delayed, which confused us, but then it downpoured. They seem to know the weather better than the weather people :).
Bluetooth range is good as well. Very happy overall as it’s kept our plants alive over this hot summer.

To compound the problem, my back yard is where my septic system and drain field are located, and I have large mature oak trees, so trenching for an in-ground irrigation system is out of the question.

I purchased this hose timer, because I was very pleased with the B-Hyve sprinkler timer I already own. The hose timer gives me comptete control of watering my foundation using soaker hoses. It also has a smart rain delay. It uses wifi access to the local weather on the internet. And will automatically go into rain delay, when it calls for rain. And it notifies you, so you can override the rain delay, if you choose. Its a great reliable product. My only minor complaint is that the setup isn’t as intuitive as the sprinkler timer. But I was able to figure it out with a couple tries.

Having the ability to set my sprinklers to water at zero-dark-thirty without having to get out of bed is quite nice. While lots of people whine about how the zones confuse things (and they kind of do), still, one gets the drift if they have a functioning brain and tinker with the hub/timers for a few minutes. I don’t leave my sprinklers positioned any one place, so I just place the sprinkler where I want, program the b-hyve watering timer, and enjoy the relatively effortless way to water my yard at the correct time of day (while I’m still fast asleep). The only problem is the timers tend to disconnect from the hub and I can’t figure out how to correct it. I have a strong signal anywhere outside next to any wall of my home (like where the timers are), the hub has the latest firmware, and my DNS settings are the most stable I can find. Doesn’t matter. I repeatedly have to start from square one setting up the timer to connect with the hub after these random disconnections. That it happens randomly makes it frustrating. The manual water start (pressing the button on the timer) doesn’t even work when that happens. Real head scratcher, but it doesn’t entirely spoil their worth for me. Beats the heck out of getting up at 3:30 am to start watering, or spending thousands to install a yard sprinkler system!

It was real easy to install and setup with the APP. I was looking into a underground watering system and this seemed to fill my need as a very cost effective price. So far it has operated as expected, and it has put me into a RAIN DELAY due to my weather conditions so saving water YAY!! It has a manual button on the device that you need to setup via the app so you can test the system without you smart phone getting wet. I recommend this product for the following reasons. 1). Great product, using the smart watering to try to revive a lawn that’s been neglected for a long time. Waterings are on time, rain delays are accurate. A couple of notes on the app:
– the navigation isn’t easy or great, needs to be easier to manage, especially when creating custom programs
– there should be some function that knows what your soil types are based on your address – I find it hard to believe that there isn’t that function since many other subscription services have it (Sunday, Scotts, etc) – took me a little bit of research to figure out what my soil type was based on government surveys.
– One of my units didn’t work right away, I contacted customer service and they had it replaced free of charge in a week – stellar response and a really great experience.

This is the perfect way to actuate any type of watering system hooked to a hose outlet (irrigation, garden, sprinklers, misters, etc.). Initial set-up was reasonably easy and the system functions properly essentially all the time. Some minor problems with connecting to do tests, and the calibration feature is finicky (but not necessary for proper operation). These items are more of an irritation then anything; all said I would buy this system again in a minute.

I got this as a cheaper alternative to the Eve aqua. I do like the product overall, but there is one feature I just do not like at all which is Smart Watering. This is supposed to be based on the weather, but here is the truth. If the threat of rain is in the forecast, it will not water. When the rain is 10 miles north and there was no rain on your lawn, it will brown and die. I switched it to just do a timed based watering and disabled the smart watering. I would prefer if this feature used a more reliable weather API, maybe weather underground’s API, and tried to gather how much rain will or how much rain did fall. The actuals would prove all the difference between a green lawn and a brown lawn. The “smart” feature needs to be smarter. The other option would be to allow this product to interface with a digital rain meter or even a weather station. The Tempest weather station will record how much rain was received today and yesterday and could recalculate based on that amount. I ended up moving this product to my garden that can tolerate the extra watering.

I can selectively control water for my fountains, orchids, and plants that need varying amounts of water. I installed the B-hyve Smart Hose Timer about a month ago. It performed a firmware upgrade and then was ready to go. I’ve controlled it via Bluetooth and via WIFI and have no issues whatsoever. It works as it should. I do find the app to be somewhat less than intuitive, and I think if this were improved, it would be a big plus. The unit itself works very nicely. I like that the timers that are set are done locally on the device, so that there is no additional communication required to stop an in-progress watering session. I assume the unit uses a solenoid to close the water valve, but regardless, it is a very abrupt open and close valve operation, so a water hammer arrestor is a good idea. I installed one and it eliminated water hammering at the faucet. I am using my B-hyve to control watering for a drip irrigation system in a garden. If the unit either had a slow valve open/close operation or included a water hammer arrestor, and if the app were improved slightly, it would easily get the extra star. That being said, I think it is the best smart hose timer on the market.

I bought this to replace a manual timer that I’ve had to replace every year. I love that I can set it to water any time, once a day or every few minutes. The options are endless. What I appreciate most is that it seems to monitor the weather and gives me notice that I may want to delay watering because of having had rain. The weathersense feature does not seem to work consistently. I have several timers and some go into automatic rain delay and some don’t. I haven’t had a lot of success with the Smart Watering feature, but that’s okay for now. I believe this is due to unfamiliarity with system (learning curve). I love the convenience of WiFi control. I’ve been waiting for a solution like this for years and it has not disappointed. No longer do I have to go out in the rain and hit the rain delay button if I forget to do it ahead of time. No longer do I have to guess how long to water my lawn and how often. The app calculates watering time based on a variety of parameters such as water PSI, slope, sun/shade, grass type, sprinkler type and reach. I’ve had it for a few weeks and it’s delayed watering due to a series of heavy rainfall. I didn’t have to do a thing. Setup was fine. I think you just need to understand that when you enable smart watering, that you don’t need to create a program. Yes, the definition of “zones”, “devices”, “group”, etc. could be clearer, but I was still able to get it up and running within 20 minutes of taking it out of the box, I can’t really complain.

I saw the product on social media and figured I would give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. This has made watering my front and back yard so much more easier. I hear that people have had connection issues but I didn’t have any. I would recommend this product if this is what your looking for.
