Top reasons to choose a Gen 2 B-hyve Hose Timer

App Controls

Turn any outdoor faucet tap into an app-controlled water source that can help you save time, water, and money.

Hyper-Local Precision

When paired with a Wi-Fi Hub, B-hyve controls watering based on your property attributes and the current high-precision local weather data.

Drought Tolerant

When Wi-Fi enabled with a Gen 2 hub, B-hyve drought settings make it easy to implement local watering restrictions.

Waterproof

The B-hyve Smart Hose Watering Timer is IPX-5 certified and protects against low-pressure water streams making it perfect to live outdoors in your yard or garden all summer long.

Economical

Save water, save money, save time and save the environment with this unique Smart Hose Watering Timer.

Built In Flow Meter

Measure out how much water you are using with the built in flow meter. The timer will also alert you when water is turned off when the timer should be watering.

Updated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Technology

The B-hyve Gen 2 Hose Timer uses the latest standard for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, providing an increased range and better connectivity than ever before. The Gen 2 Wi-Fi Hub enables the timer's Wi-Fi capabilities to allow remote access, smart watering programs, complete watering history, and more.

The Gen 2 Wi-Fi Hub is the same hub that powers our B-hyve XD Hose Timers and Leak Detectors, making it the most versatile option for building out your B-hyve smart water management setup.

Improved Battery Tray

We took this opportunity to create an improved design for the hose timer battery tray. The new tray is better at preventing water ingress, while also being easier to remove.

Just like the Gen 1 timer, you can expect a set of 2 AA batteries to last a full growing season. That's about 6 months of watering without replacing batteries!

Combine With a Manifold for Even More Options

The Gen 2 timers can be combined with a manifold to run up to 4 timers on the same faucet. This popular configuration can be purchased as a set for a significant savings. Please keep in mind that each individual timer must be configured separately within the app – they function completely independently. That means if one loses power or has an error, the others can continue watering on their same schedules.

If you'd prefer to program 4 ports together, the 4-Port B-hyve XD Timer offers that option.

FAQs

Since the launch of our first smart watering device in 2016, we’ve strived to provide the best in smart watering capabilities. Our Smart Hose Timer was the first of its kind and while it’s still a great device, it’s time for the next iteration.

Here’s where the Gen 2 B-hyve Hose Timer comes in. In the last few years, there have been great advancements in technology that the B-hyve Hose Timer hasn’t been able to take advantage of. With the new Gen 2 timer, we’re able to update some internal components for a stronger Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection as well as an improved range.

With the new Gen 2 timer, we’re able to update some internal components for a stronger Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection as well as an improved range. The new version of the timer also gave us the opportunity to improve on the battery drawer to better prevent water ingress.

No. The new Gen 2 timers utilize the Gen 2 Wi-Fi hub, the same hub that powers the Wi-Fi capabilities of the B-hyve XD line of hose timers and B-hyve Leak Detectors.

The Gen 2 version of the timer has a darker casing, vs. the Gen 1 timer's light gray case. The Gen 2 timer also says "Gen 2" directly above the yellow B-hyve "B" button on the device.

Description

Elevate your watering game with the 2nd Generation Orbit B-hyve Smart 1-Outlet Hose Faucet Watering Timer. No more worries about forgotten plants or overwatered lawns – this smart timer puts you in charge. This timer is part of the B-hyve Smart water management device ecosystem which includes smart landscape controllers, hose faucet timers, flow meters, and leak detectors.

You can control the timer from anywhere in the world where your smartphone has reception. Smart not only means that you can control it from your smartphone, but B-hyve WeatherSense® technology makes it weather smart. When connected to Wi-Fi by using our 2nd generation hub, your B-hyve automatically checks your local weather conditions many times each day, recalculates the soil moisture level in each zone, and then makes smart choices about when and how long to water. In the event of rain, high wind, or freeze, B-hyve will delay watering until normal conditions return and then will calculate the appropriate watering schedule, helping take advantage of beneficial rainfall and saving water.

Will Gen I and Gen II operate seamlessly over WiFi on the same App?

I want the same timers I bought last year. I thought Gen II Bluetooth were an update and compatible with my existing WiFi (Gen I) timers. How can I operate Gen I and Gen II off WiFi seamlessly and together from the same App? If I can't then I will be very unhappy.

Cannot be managed on two phones

Easy to install, works well and it integrated with my existing b-hyve app with no issues except that it only allows you to install it on one phone. There are two people in this household that need to manage this device but that's not going to happen.

Orbit B-Hyve Gen2 Faucet Timer-Controller Report 08/02/25

Orbit B-Hyve Gen2 Faucet Timer-Controller Report
Orbit Purchase Order 249614

Problem: The B-Hyve unit flowmeter data is not reporting in the daily watering history record for programmed timer run time.

This B-Hyve Timer-Controller #21205 is a Orbit warranty replacement of a new unit which had a flowmeter failure verified by Orbit online tech support by programmed test on 07/19/25. This unit controls the water irrigation for Station 2 from the residence’s 2nd hose faucet.

This B-Hyve unit was installed on 07/26/25 and setup programmed for a 180 minute next morning run time. The flowmeter was calibrated using the 30 second test and then water run tested for 10 minutes, which recorded 41 gallons in the watering history report in the Orbit App (IOS). The flowmeter details, rate and gallons, were seen in run dial interface incrementing during the water cycle. The flowmeter and app software functioned correctly for the run test.

For the next day watering cycle of 180 minutes, the watering history report data showed 0.0 gallons and run time of 180 minutes. The recorded 0.0 water flow and total run time history record was repeated for daily cycles through today 08/02/25. The Program A water cycle was correctly programmed and the rain delay was switched OFF. Is there a timer program run time limit or a flowmeter continuous water flow requirement for the rum time?

Note 1: The 0.0 gallons flowmeter data not recorded problem has been also seen an identical new B-Hyve Timer #21205 for the residence’s 1st hose faucet on Station 1 since 07/26/25. The previous daily history record on 07/25/25 for Program A showed 432 gallons for a 90 minute run. On 07/25/25, the timer programmed run time was increased to 120 minutes to add 5 minutes between downline station timers (3) run times and 1 minute between their station zone ports run times, to insure WiFi network communications separation for each sequenced zone port. After the B-Hyve faucet timer-controller program was revised, the 0.0 flowmeter data report appeared in the history record.

Note 2: The B-Hyve faucet timer-controllers for Station 1 and Station 2 have good WiFi connectivity between their paired dedicated Orbit B-Hyve hubs. The B-Hyve hubs and B-Hyve timers are connected to the residence Netgear Orbi mesh network on the 2.4 ghz band.

Note 3: At this date, I can not determine if the timer-controller flowmeter “data not reporting” problem is from the Orbit App (IOS) software, flowmeter time and flow restrictions, or from the Orbit Server data handling and response time. Can Orbit provide guidance on this problem?

Note 4: As an interim solution, I have purchased 2 Orbit inline hose water flowmeters #56854N for installation on Stations 1&2 ahead of the B-Hyve units, to daily and manually record the residence’s irrigation watering usage.
