Preguntas frecuentes

Some questions and answers are automatically generated.

Do these connectors actually snap on and off easily?

Yes. Several customers report that these are genuinely easy to connect and disconnect compared to other quick-connect sets, and they appreciate not having to twist fittings.

How long do the o-rings last?

The o-rings can fail within 3 months to a year of use. Multiple customers report o-rings becoming hard or leaking, though Orbit has replaced them under warranty in some cases. Some customers suggest silicone rings might be more durable.

Will these corrode or rust over time?

Some customers have experienced corrosion and loss of shutoff function after one season, particularly in areas with average water quality. One reviewer noted the electroplating coating may not be thick enough for long-term durability, and there are reports of mixed material quality across units.

Does this set include an auto-shutoff feature?

This product appears to include auto-shutoff based on the description, but some customers report the shutoff function fails due to corrosion or o-ring degradation. One reviewer noted difficulty determining from Orbit's website whether a given unit includes this feature.

Can you buy replacement o-rings separately?

Not easily. Customers have reported that Orbit does not sell replacement o-rings individually for this quick-connect model, making it difficult to repair when the o-rings fail.

They work great. Finally found some that are easy to snap on and off. Thank you for connecting me with my water tools. I really enjoy watering my Flowers.

Brass Quick Connect Set 58285

Purchased two sets from Home Depot. Both sets stopped working. When called for replacement . I had to prove that they were not working. one was easy because it was just out side and half connected to the facuet. The other was on a mobile unit and the temp was over 100 degrees outside . I am 80 years old and did not want to go through the hassel to prove that it also was not working. So I only got a replacement for one unit. I still have the other unit that still is not working. Thus the two star rating.

O-ring lasts like 3 months

I like this quick connect set, but the o-ring that enables the shutoff on disconnect features routinely breaks after just a couple of months. I cannot find the correct size to replace it anywhere and Orbit will not sell just the gaskets for the quick connect. I filed a warranty claim and they gave me a $10 gift card that almost covered the cost of a new set, all I wanted was some replacement gaskets. It would be great if the o-ring would t fail, or if you could just buy a bunch of the correct size o-rings. The Eley quick connect doesn’t have shutoff, but the do sell replacement o-rings for the primary seal.

Also, when shopping in the Orbit website, it’s impossible to tell if the quick connect includes shutoff. They make versions with and without shutoff, all the listings say “shutoff” as a feature, but what you actually receive is semi-random, sometime you get auto-shutoff and sometimes you don’t. Orbit customer service seems to be based in India and is very rude and completely unaware of what the products being sold actually are.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback on your Quick Connect Set leaking, and about your experience with getting replacement gaskets. Because we do not sell replacement gaskets for this, the whole part would need to be replaced. We are always looking for ways to improve and will be taking a further look into your conversations, and into our website to see how we can clear up any confusion. Our Customer Care team would be happy to help if further assistance may be needed in the future, we can be reached by phone at (800)488-6156 or online at support.orbitonline.com. Have a great rest of your day.

I love these but the o-rings have either leaked or got rock hard within one years use. Orbit has always replaced them though. I think silicone rings might be a better solution than rubber.

The original disconnects appeared to be a mixture of brass or some type of alloy. Corrosion after one season stopped the function of auto shut off. The replacement actually look like real brass.
