Get More Drip Savings with the Right Nozzle

So you’ve decided to install drip to conserve more water.  But where do you go from there?  If you’re browsing Orbit’s selection of drip products, you see there are dozens of options and it can quickly get confusing.  But picking the right sprinklers doesn’t have to be difficult.

Depending on the area you want to water, you’ll likely be picking between micro-spray, bubblers or drippers.

Micro-spray sprinklers act just like mini spray head sprinklers, only with a smaller, gentler stream.  They come in full, half, and quarter parterns, as well as strip … Read More

The Perfect Time for Improvment

We were recently talking with a visitor here at Orbit about how droughts are a good avenue for education and improvement. They require people to think about irrigation in ways they never have before.  We know many of our customers have sprinkler systems which are decades old, and besides the occasional repair, they haven’t given much thought to what advancements have been made in the world of irrigation.  Over the years, new developments make sprinklers more efficient, saving money, water and time.

For the remainder of the home irrigation season, we’ll … Read More

The Challenge of Beating the Drought

There you are.  Spring is just around the corner.  You can already feel it in the air and see it in the trees and flowers.  It’s exciting and you can’t wait to get your yard up and running again.  But there’s a problem.  One that’s been going on for a long time.  Drought.

The biggest market for any home and garden company is California.  Unfortunately, the Golden State is entering its fourth year of low water levels, and that has forced the government to implement even further watering restrictions, some of … Read More

Great time at the Bees’ game!

Monday night Orbit sponsored “Water Conservation” night at the Salt Lake Bees baseball game. Not only  did we share water conservation pointers, but we had some fun while we were at it. Earth Day 2014: A Reminder of All Earth’s Valuable Resources

It’s Earth Day! Any day is a good day to start conserving energy, water, and natural resources, but Earth Day serves as a reminder that we only have a certain amount of all the good things our planet provides and we should be careful with it all. At Orbit, we’re especially concerned about using water. The Earth may seem like it has plenty of water, but in reality only about one percent of it is available to humans for things like bathing, watering our lawns, and doing the dishes—oh, and … Read More

Watering Restrictions in California

No one likes drought conditions. However, it’s fairly difficult to control Mother Nature.

California is faced with drought and record-dry conditions this year and it can be difficult to learn what specific measures and restrictions are in place with so many different water agencies.

Thanks to a digital map put together by the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), a coalition of public water agencies in California, you can easily find out what actions have been implemented in your area.

Check out the link ( for more details and to find your community.

How to Deal with Water Shortages!

“Water Shortages Conserve Water!” is not a phrase I wanted to hear as this Summer season began.  Sure, I enjoy conserving water just as much as the next person, but it has been really depressing watching my once lush, green lawn begin to yellow and die under the rays of triple digit heat.

Due to low water yielding winter and spring seasons, many residents in northern Davis County, Utah are under mandatory and voluntary water restrictions. As Spring transitioned to Summer, these signs began to populate the local landscape.  Residents are … Read More

Catch cups and sprinkler audits have been around a long time and are nothing revolutionary.  But in the past they required expensive and inaccurate devices.  After a sample was taken the user had to shuffle through confusing … Read More
